Flesh and Stone

I created this body of work over the past five years while living in the Pacific Northwest. Through the brilliance of one of my teachers I was introduced to the work of Krzysztof Wodiczko and Shimon Attie. I found the projection process very exciting. Merging the human form with cold stone (found in the historic architecture of beautiful downtown Portland) can often yield the extraordinary and the unexpected. I like the fusion that exists for only a few seconds in my studio and is then gone, probably forever. Only by my recording it to film, and through the printing process, does it become a reality, something created, something real. The results can be described as sculptural, sensual and often haunting.
